This was given to me as a gift 6 months ago for my birthday. At first I thought I would return it because it just doesn't seem possible to compost indoors, without turning giant piles of yard waste and chasing off bugs and rats and other critters. I have been composting with three active compost piles in my backyard for several years, and a little box like this didn't seem like it would work. But I took the plunge anyway (it was free to me at that point, so why not). To my surprise, it actually worked. I use it for all my kitchen scraps now and my backyard bins are only for leaves and grass now.
The instructions are very clear and obviously they put a lot of thought into that. I've gotten eight or ten batches out already and the compost is extremely rich and well broken down. That's because it mixes several times per day (whereas my compost piles get mixed once per month at most). Its also very hot in there and you can actually see vapor rising off the compost.
There is no odor at all if you follow the instructions. If you don't follow the instructions, you get a kind of musty, wet grass kind of smell which I actually don't mind too much. My only complaint was that it made quite a few whirring and clanking and other noises when it was brand new, but it quieted down after it had some compost to work on. I am seriously considering buying another one, the Pet version because I have a dog.

My little home composter has been chugging away for nearly a year now. It has made dozens of batches of compost. I still can't believe how fast it turns our organic waste items into hot, black, fragrant compost. I was always under the impression that compost takes years and is very messy, but this system is different because it has a small motor and an air filter. There is basically no smell. It takes a few weeks to get the cultures activated, and during that time the instructions say to keep the machine closed. It all makes sense if you follow the instructions. This is an expensive machine but worth every penny.

I am happy with my Naturemill. I have had it for a few months. It makes good compost as they say it does, and I have not had any odors at all. It is one of the few gadgets that I actually use every day, so I think this is a great value even though the price is high. I have accumulated so many expensive blenders and bread makers and expresso makers over the years and I never really use them after the first time. I compost every day now - just coffee grounds alone are worth it.
I have not used the compost yet because it is still cold here. They say it is ok to leave the compost outside in a pile on the snow until you are ready to use it. Apparently the cold doesn't damage it - it's dirt after all! I am looking forward to seeing how my shrubs do in the spring with their new compost.
My only misgiving is that I got the cheaper model thinking I would save a few bucks. The PRO model has the foot pedal which seems silly but when your hands are wet and sticky and you need two hands anyway to scrap stuff, a foot pedal would be a nice thing to have! It also has some other high end options and fancy colors although I have not found a need for those.

Works well. It takes some getting used to in terms of balancing the "green" and "brown" items. My first batch smelled kind of like wet hay but it was very mild once the cultures get activated. It is made of recycled plastic which is a big plus in my book, and it was also packaged with minimal packaging without all the wasted padding. Made in the USA and you don't see that very often.

Made about 5 batches of compost so far. Works as they say it will. As other customers have noted, it does tend to jam if you overload it. But it is very sturdy and I don't think it has sustained any permanent damage as a result. Stay away from hard items like peach pits and you will be fine.
The compost comes out extremely fine and mature, not like the typical backyard composter. It can process meat and dairy products which is very useful and not something you typically can compost at home. Overall this is a great new piece of technology and some day it will be in every home in America.

If you are planning on getting one of these you should be aware that they do not work for everything. Lemons, limes, grapefruit, and pineapple rinds can only be used in limited quantities. This is a disappointment because we do a lot of juicing and we have a TON of pineapple skins especially. It is also no good for paper, even shredded or coffee ground filters, which is a let down because we have a lot of that too. It also says corn cobs won't work which I can understand and thankfully we do not have many of those. Everything else seems to go down rather fast and we have been getting some very dark rich compost. It was a little noise at first but it seems to have calmed down, or maybe we don't notice it any more.

I do not like the idea of yet another plug-in appliance. So when my wife bought this I was initially against it. But I have made an exception for this one because it is so good for our plants. Our shrubs in our front yard have exploded this year and I think it is because of the compost. We have the same kind of shurbs in the back where we have not added compost yet and they are lame as usual this year. I have not seen any uptick in our energy bill so the manufacturers claim of low energy consumption is true at least.
Since we have been using this machine I do not need to take our trash to the curb every week. Sometimes I miss a week (oops - forgot to take out the trash again!) and in the past that would have been tragic with flies and odors stinking up our garage. Now I regularly take the trash to the curb every other week. Much easier. Less waste too.

This thing is the only composter that doesn't stink. Believe me, my husband has tried them all. This is the only one. We love it. It works great.

OK composter but too small

This composter is too small. There is no way it can handle even half of what a regular compost pile handles. It is definitely not capable of branches, lawn mower trimmings, or dense brush. It works ok for table scraps and the small stuff like that. So now I have TWO composts to maintain - one out back AND one in my kitchen! I wish it was all in one.

This makes the fastest compost I have ever seen or heard of or read about anywhere. The old fashion way takes many months and then you just get dried out trash chances are. This machine works it's magic in a few days. They say to leave the compost in the machine to finish stabilizing in the bottom tray area for two weeks but you can do that outside on top of your plants. This is a great machine and definitely worth the initial starting process (which takes a week and you have be be more careful about what you put in). I wish it was cheaper and I would buy another one for my cabin.
